Sanchez, Cabral throw gems as Eagles blank USW in conference doubleheader
Oscar Sanchez and Dylan Cabral tossed a pair of gems Friday in the first two games of a three-game conference series, helping A&M-Texarkana improve its win streak to five straight after wins of 8-0 and 6-0 over University of the Southwest.

HOBBS, New Mexico — Oscar Sanchez and Dylan Cabral tossed a pair of gems Friday in the first two games of a three-game conference series, helping A&M-Texarkana improve its win streak to five straight after wins of 8-0 and 6-0 over University of the Southwest.
Sanchez threw a complete game shutout in the 7-inning opener, then Cabral threw seven scoreless innings in the second game – a 9-inning contest. The series concludes Saturday with the final contest starting at 1 pm. The Eagles improved to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
GAME 1
Sanchez allowed just four hits while striking out four on 114 pitches to pick up his first win of the season. The Eagles racked up 12 hits and spread out eight runs with three in the second, two in the third, two in the sixth and another in the seventh.
Hunter Reid and Adam Garren each had two hits with a home run, Julian Macias tripled and drove in three and Reid, Dakota Leopold, Brandon Riley and Bobby Velasco each had doubles. The Eagles totaled seven hits for extra bases.
GAME 2
Cabral allowed just one hit and struck out 10 in seven innings, just a few days after collecting his first RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor. Cabral did not allow a walk on 99 pitches.
The Eagles totaled 10 hits, two apiece from Leopold and Garren, and a double from Reid. The scoring was spread out again with one run in the first, two in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the seventh.
