Eagles let lead slip away late in conference opener at UHV
A&M-Texarkana dropped the first game of its conference-opener series against Houston-Victoria on Saturday, falling 9-8 to UHV. Games 2 and 3 are tomorrow in a doubleheader that begins at 12 pm.

VICTORIA, Texas — A&M-Texarkana dropped the first game of its conference-opener series against Houston-Victoria on Saturday, falling 9-8 to UHV. Games 2 and 3 are tomorrow in a doubleheader that begins at 12 pm.
The two teams combined for 17 runs, 22 hits and seven errors with the lead changing hands five times. The Eagles (1-8 overall, 0-1 RRAC) led 7-5 going into the seventh before the Jaguars (8-1, 1-0) put up four runs in the bottom half to take the lead for good.
Dakota Leopold had two hits, two RBIs and a double and Hunter Reid doubled twice to lead the Eagles at the plate. Julian Macias and TJ Krause also had two hits apiece. Oscar Sanchez started on the mound and tossed six innings, surrendering nine hits and five earned runs while striking out six and walking three. Anthony Galindo was hit with the loss, throwing two innings of relief with two strikeouts and two walks and an earned run.
