A&M-Texarkana baseball is picked to finish sixth in the RRAC Baseball 2024 Preseason Poll, as voted on by the head coaches in the conference. The poll was released Thursday, with fifth-ranked LSU-Shreveport picked first after winning the regular season title a year ago. RRAC Tournament champion Houston-Victoria enters the poll at No. 4.
The Eagles finished 24-24 a year ago and compiled a 13-5 record at George Dobson Field. They went 17-12 in conference play and 1-2 at the conference tournament, falling to LSU-Alexandria before beating Southwest and then eliminated by Louisiana Christian.
TAMUT returns a pair of All-Conference performers from a season ago – senior Hunter Reid and junior Brandon Riley. Reid led the team in home runs (10), RBI (31), extra base hits (18) and slugging (.583). Riley led the team in hits (46), runs scored (32) and was second in batting (.346).
The Eagles open the season Jan. 26 at Philander Smith (Ar.). Their first home series begins Feb. 2 with a pair of doubleheaders against Friends (Ks.).
