Beach Volleyball Finishes 2-2 at Home Tournament
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M–Texarkana Eagles beach volleyball team put together a strong showing at the TAMUT Tournament this weekend at the Guaranty Bank & Trust Beach Volleyball Competition Courts, finishing with a 2–2 record with wins over East Texas Baptist and (RV) Texas Wesleyan.
The Eagles opened the tournament with a 4–1 victory over East Texas Baptist. The top pair of Leanne Blue and Paulina Dobreva set the tone with a straight-sets win on court one, while Bella Marvin and Jaxie Tillman added another decisive victory on court three. Dylan Presley and Flor Lazo battled through a three-set match on court four, and Zoe Martinez and Riley Mangan secured the final point for TAMUT with a straight-sets win on court five.
TAMUT faced a tough challenge in its second dual of the day against #8 Wayland Baptist, falling 5–0 despite several closely contested courts. The pairing of Blue and Dobreva pushed court one to three sets, while Zoe Martinez and Riley Mangan also forced a decisive third set on court five before Wayland Baptist ultimately claimed the sweep.
The Eagles bounced back on Saturday with a 3–2 victory over (RV) Texas Wesleyan. Blue and Dobreva once again delivered on court one with a straight-sets win, while Bella Marvin and Jaxie Tillman fought through a three-set battle on court three. Zoe Martinez and Flor Lazo sealed the dual for Texarkana with a dominant straight-sets victory on court four.
In the tournament finale, TAMUT fell 5–0 to East Texas Baptist in a tightly contested rematch. Several courts pushed to three sets, including courts one, three, four, and five, but the Tigers ultimately secured the win.
Beach volleyball will return to action next week as the Eagles host their final home tournament of the season and honor their seniors during their last matches on their home court on Saturday, March 21 at 9:45 a.m.
