Beach Volleyball Posts Strong 3–1 Weekend at ETBU
MARSHALL, Texas – The Texas A&M–Texarkana Eagles beach volleyball team turned in an impressive showing at the ETBU Tournament in Marshall, posting a 3–1 record with wins over Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Ottawa University, and No. 10 Texas Wesleyan University before falling in a tightly contested finale to host East Texas Baptist University.
The Eagles opened the tournament with a 3–2 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan, highlighted by wins on courts one, two, and five. The top pair of LeAnne Blue and Paulina Dobreva set the tone with a straight-sets win, while Mia Mata and Lauren Herz battled back in a three-set thriller to secure the decisive point.
TAMUT followed with a dominant 5–0 sweep of Ottawa, controlling every court in convincing fashion. The Eagles did not drop a set in the dual, showcasing depth as all five pairs won comfortably to move to 2–0 on the weekend.
Against No. 10 Texas Wesleyan, the Eagles earned their signature win of the tournament with a 3–2 triumph. Blue and Dobreva again delivered on court one, while Bella Marvin and Jaxie Tillman rallied for a three-set victory on court three. Flor Lazo and Sina Martinez sealed the dual with a composed straight-sets win on court five.
In the tournament finale, TAMUT fell just short in a 3–2 loss to East Texas Baptist. Blue and Dobreva and the duo of Marvin and Tillman each earned hard-fought three-set victories, but the Tigers claimed the remaining courts in tightly contested matches.
The strong weekend performance highlights the Eagles' growing momentum and depth as they continue their early-season campaign in only their second season of competition.
Beach Volleyball will be back in action on March 13-14 as they host the TAMUT Tournament where they will compete against East Texas Baptist, Wayland Baptist, and Texas Wesleyan.
