Bio

Mitchell Houghton is in his first year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Events at Texas A&M University Texarkana. In his role, he oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of game operations and special events for the Eagles, ensuring a first-class game-day experience for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans while managing event logistics across all athletic programs.

Houghton brings more than a decade of collegiate athletics event management experience to A&M Texarkana. Prior to joining the Eagles, he served as a Game Management Assistant at Iowa Western Community College from 2015-18, where he managed game operations for the volleyball program and served as Co-Tournament Director for the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Following his time at Iowa Western, Houghton worked as a Game Operations Assistant at Colby Community College, assisting with event management for volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and baseball.

Most recently, Houghton served as a Game Management Assistant at Bethany College, where he oversaw game operations for all varsity sports while coordinating numerous conference and regional championship events. During his tenure, he served as Site Director for the KCAC Fall Individual Tennis Championships in 2023, 2024, and 2025, the KCAC Spring Team Tennis Championships in 2024, 2025, and 2026, and the 2025 ITA Men's and Women's Central-West Regional Championships in Salina, Kansas.

Throughout his career, Houghton has developed extensive experience in championship administration, event logistics, facility operations, and game-day management. His background includes managing conference and national championship events while fostering an exceptional experience for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. He joins A&M Texarkana with a commitment to enhancing the game-day atmosphere and continuing to elevate the experience for the TAMUT community.
