Bio

Katie Barrera joined the Texas A&M University–Texarkana Athletics Department as an Athletic Trainer in 2026.

A Texas native, Katie earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology from Concordia University Texas in Austin in 2018 before completing a Master of Athletic Training at Texas A&M University in College Station in 2021.

Following graduate school, Barrera served as an Athletic Training Intern for the football program at Charleston Southern University during the 2021-22 academic year. She then joined the University of Louisiana in Lafayette as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine, where she spent four years covering both the football and softball programs.

With experience working alongside student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level, Barrera brings a strong background in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols. She is committed to promoting the health, safety, and overall well-being of Eagle student-athletes while helping them perform at their highest level.
